Christians hate being categorized (actually, most people don't like being labeled). Some even try and say that the Bible says we mustn't judge ... true, but that speaks about judging salvation or damnation. Rather, the Bible encourages us to discern, evaluate, be wise, and choose. That requires judging the things around us. So ... ... at the risk of being flamed ... I think there are really only two types of Christians (and I'm not speaking of people who think they are Christian, but I'm talking of those who know Jesus). The two types? Those who stay behind the communion rail, and those who cross over. Those who revere God and those who embrace God. Those for who God is instructor of all things, and those for who God is the lover in all things. Credit: http://tinyurl.com/aqjwqxa The two types? Those who keep God at an arms distance, and those who are wrapped in Gods arms. Once God is accepted and we are accepted by God, there are only two possible end points, between which we move. 1. A platonic relationship where I acknowledge Him and allow Him into my heart as a companion. We do not deny each other, but I keep a social distance between us. 2. A lovers relationship where my desire is only to be melded with He who is strange and wonderful, despite how unfamiliar He is. One of the saddest aspects of the contemporary mainline church is that so many of our seats are filled with type 1 Christians. And the Spirit is calling them, encouraging them, saying dive in, step into the deeper flowing water, embrace the unknown beauty, abandon yourself, risk Joy, find completion.

Why?
Probably the best therapy is to express yourself. Why do you think psychiatrists make you lie on the couch and talk, while all they do is murmur "hmmm", "uhuh", or "go on"? Archives
