(quick thoughts from while on the move) "Now" is the only important time, because now is the time of decision. The future cannot affect us, but we can be affected by our perceptions of the future. So how do my hopes, my longing, and my perception of the future interact with the "now"? This is how the future affects the "now". We make our decisions based on our perception of how the outcome will influence risk; how will it change our vulnerability, exposure, and the hazards we will face in a perceived future - and we try to minimize the risk. As a Christian we're not supposed to make decisions based on minimizing risk! As long as we're on God's path the world's idea of risk is not a real perception of risk. When we let the world's idea of risk fill our vision, we make choices that deviate from the path. The real risk, the eternal risk, is that we will stray from the path. For then we walk on a precipice, then we are vulnerable, then we are exposed. So get a perspective!

Why?
Probably the best therapy is to express yourself. Why do you think psychiatrists make you lie on the couch and talk, while all they do is murmur "hmmm", "uhuh", or "go on"? Archives
